About Me
I am a very motivated IT specialist who has completed my
associate of applied sciences degree in the Information
Technology/Systems Administration Specialist field at
Northwood Technical College in New Richmond, WI. In addition
to this degree I have also obtained my PC Support Technician
certificate from Lake Superior College. I have spent three
years working in the IT field with employers such as Lake
Superior College and New Richmond Computers. I also spend
extensive time working on expanding my skills through my
personal home lab and projects. Which I discuss on this site.
My Personal IT Projects
I have spent extensive time creating my personal home lab
testing environment as well as building out my home network.
I have built a custom OPNsense router with many custom
firewall rules to allow remote administration of my network
and servers, as well as access to my custom websites. I have
setup an Apache server and MySQL database in order to operate
my handful of custom websites including services such as web
file storage and access, as well as video playback. Including
this website you're reading now. I have setup two Truenas
servers with 4TB of storage to be used as a network share for
accessing files and for remote video editing from my
workstation, as well as an additional network interface for
secure storage access through my VPN appliance. In addition,
I have setup two servers with VMware ESXi and installed
vCenter in my home lab environment, connecting them to my
domain controller and Truenas VM for use with an iSCSI share.
My Server Rack
My full-size server rack includes hardware such as an
HP DL360 G7, Dell PowerEdge R210, Cisco Catalyst 3560v2
PoE switch, Cisco 1841 Router, HP 2920-48G switch, Cisco
Linksys RV042 VPN and a KVM console with display to
quickly switch between which machine I am administering.
I have also created a logical network diagram displaying
the layout of my entire network.
